Independent snow and weather reporting from the Yuzawa & Minamiuonuma region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 1cm
Snowfall at base this seas 865cm

Posted on Tuesday 17th February 2026 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here.

Good morning from Yuzawa.

We've had a kind of a dusting of snow - I can just about justify 1cm for this report. Perhaps more than that at higher elevations.

The day starts grey and overcast with some very light snow falling, though forecasts do seem to all be promising clearer skies and sunshine. Probably sometime this morning.

Tomorrow should be fine from the get-go, with snow - proper snow - due tomorrow night and into Thursday morning.

Fingers crossed we can receive a reset as there's no little sign of snow potential for at least several days beyond that.
