Independent snow and weather reporting from the Yuzawa & Minamiuonuma region of Niigata
New snowfall at base 2cm
Snowfall at base this seas 969cm
Posted on Tuesday 16th February 2021 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here.
Yesterday was... wet.
Though higher up Kagura are reporting 10cm of fresh snowfall. Unfortunately they are also reporting that the Tashiro Area of the resort will be closed today, along with the top Kagura Number 5 pair lift - due to forecast strong winds.
Other ski areas appear to be opening as planned this morning and it doesn't feel particularly windy outside at the moment.
Maiko Snow Resort is reporting 5cm of fresh snow this morning, Ishiuchi reporting 0cm and Iwappara is reporting 'just a little bit'.
A few cm or so of snow on the ground around town areas and light snow is falling at the moment (though there are some hints of blue sky over Naeba at the time of writing).
If forecasts are correct we can expect light snow on/off today, with heavier snow tomorrow and Thursday. It is definitely colder this morning and should be colder still over the next few days.
