New snowfall at base 6cm
Snowfall at base this seas 398cm
Posted on Wednesday 14th January 2026 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here.
It got more overcast since the report yesterday morning and we ended up having some rain.
Still, we are back to snow this morning with over 5cm so far and counting. Currently it is slightly over 0C in town.
Hopefully we might get a day of fresh snow today.
Wind is a problem for Kagura again. Both Ropeway bases are open but some lifts and runs are unavailable. (Kagura up to Number 1 pair, Tashiro up to Number 6 pair).
As a follow up to my comments yesterday, regarding snow levels: while ski areas are all open, there are indeed still some runs/sections that have not yet opened due to there not being enough snow yet. The Southern Area of GALA Yuzawa is a good example. That area often only opens in January, but we'd hope for it to be available by now.
Over at Joetsu Kokusai ski area (and nothing to do with snowfall), it is worth mentioning that the Atema and Osawa car park bases (and associated runs) are only open on weekends this season. In the case of Atema, that is a chance for this season. That information has been added to the list below.
