Independent snow and weather reporting from the Yuzawa & Minamiuonuma region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 12cm
Snowfall at base this seas 80cm

Posted on Saturday 14th December 2024 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here.

Yesterday we had some quite bright skies in the morning, making for a good start for GALA Yuzawa and Joetsu Kokusai.

From this morning, Naeba and Yuzawa Kogen are also part open. So that means that there are now five ski areas open in the Yuzawa and Minamiuonuma region. Most of the other ski areas in the region plan to open on Friday/Saturday next weekend, and with the current weather and forecasts for the week ahead, it feels like they will all be able to. Fantastic.

Back to the weather, around 10cm overnight and it had eased off but it is snowing once again.

Hopefully we will get some more cm during the day today with more on/off through the coming week (and potentially moderate to heavy at times).

Good old fashioned consistent 'yukiguni' snowfall patterns. Highly pleasing to see!
