Independent snow and weather reporting from the Yuzawa & Minamiuonuma region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 20cm
Snowfall at base this seas 311cm

Posted on Tuesday 11th February 2020 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here.

There's more snow to report this morning after it started in the afternoon yesterday.

The Kagura resort are this morning reporting 40cm of fresh snowfall and I am hearing similar from over at Naeba too. Maiko Snow Resort are reporting 20cm. Other resorts are reporting... actually, we wish they did!

On our trusted measuring spot and nearby I can report around 20cm.

It is snowing still as this report is about to be posted, but due to ease off later on by this afternoon.

It might well be another busy day today -- today is National Foundation Day and a holiday in Japan.

We are still forecast warmer conditions tomorrow through Friday (with some rain in the mix too unfortunately), but the good news on that front is that there seems to be a return to colder conditions and more snow lined up next week.

The Number 5 top lift at Kagura is closed today due to avalanche risk.

The GALA Yuzawa webcams seem to be having a few issues - we'll post those again once they are back up and running.
