Independent snow and weather reporting from the Shiga Kogen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 22cm
Snowfall at base this season 412cm

Posted on Tuesday 6th February 2024 This is an archived report. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here.

Good morning from Shiga Kogen.

Snow yesterday and overnight has eased off this morning leaving us with cloudy skies and generally decent visibility.

At 3:20am (!), Yakebitaiyama reported 20cm of fresh snowfall. Okushiga Kogen and Kumanoyu have also both reported 20cm this morning and my measurement is in line with those.

So we should have some refreshed runs this morning. There is a chance of some more light snow through tomorrow though we shouldn't expect much, and a chance of clearer skies at the end of the week.

Someone asked how can the snow depth at Ichinose Family be 120cm when it is 270cm at Takamagahara Mammoth, when they are basically next to each other. Good question and... I don't know. That Mammoth number is curious.

The information below is manually checked with official sources and updated for every report.
