Independent snow and weather reporting from the Shiga Kogen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 24cm
Snowfall at base this season 789cm

Posted on Saturday 5th February 2022 This is an archived report. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here.

Phew, just been out shovelling. It's really cold outside and blowing snow. Good old mid-winter conditions. With 20+cm of snow too on the ground.

Yakebitaiyama and Kumanoyu were both reporting 15cm of snowfall early this morning. There'll be more than that by now and I have just taken a 24cm measurement.

Visibility is generally poor and in places down to almost nothing. Some lifts may be affected by that.

There's snow due for the whole day today and tomorrow too.

Monday should see the clouds clear at least a bit and maybe a lot, leaving us with some really great conditions.
