Ah, Golden Week. Always seems to sign off the season (apart from the Yokoteyama area) and mark the beginning of spring proper in Shiga Kogen. And it always seems to be the time when temperatures start to rise and it get rather warm. They're keeping fairly chilly this year though so far - I almost feel that March was warmer than April generally this year.
The road connecting Shiga Kogen with Kusatsu in Gunma actually had to be closed due to the snow and icy conditions that we got on Friday. Yes, snowfall! Not a huge amount but there was a fresh coating there.
This morning it is dry conditions and a mix of cloud and sun. A pleasant morning. Tomorrow should be a bit warmer and it will be busier than a normal Monday with it being a national holiday in Japan. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday are 'normal' weekdays (though some people will either be lucky enough to have them as holidays or take them as holidays), followed by the second part of the Golden Week holidays from Friday until Monday.
The list of part open resorts updated below for this last stretch of the season. Snow thin on the ground in some places (or not there at all!) but enough to see us through.
