Independent snow and weather reporting from the Shiga Kogen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 10cm
Snowfall at base this season 266cm

Posted on Saturday 27th December 2014 This is an archived report. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here.

It's still snowing. Early on this morning it's rather dark looking clouds and snow coming down quite heavily here in the Maruike area of Shiga Kogen. A moderate wind as well blowing it out. A very wintery scene as people start to head out to the lifts.

Yakebitaiyama resort area is posting a temperature of -14!

It's actually still forecast to clear up today - it just doesn't feel like that now with the conditions early on.

Tomorrow should start off fine and it will be warmer than today (which won't be difficult!)

Brave the weather though and the rewards are out there on the ski slopes.
