Independent snow and weather reporting from the Shiga Kogen region of Nagano
New snowfall at base 26cm
Snowfall at base this season 338cm
Posted on Tuesday 22nd January 2019 This is an archived report. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here.
In a replay of yesterday, Yakebitaiyama are reporting 30cm of fresh snowfall and Kumanoyu are reporting 10cm (which I feel seems low, as do official snow depths now generally, but why would/do they under-report?).
Anyway, those be what is being reported.
I have measured 26cm myself since yesterday. It's good quality snow too - peak season light and fluffy. Oh yes. There is some wind as well which is blowing the powder around and meaning there there's more snow in some places than others.
There may be some sun shining through tomorrow morning but later on in the day we are due to be back to getting snowed on with regular snow on the forecast through the end of the weekend.
