Independent snow and weather reporting from the Shiga Kogen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 16cm
Snowfall at base this season 26cm

Posted on Monday 20th November 2017 This is an archived report. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here.

Good morning from Shiga Kogen.

The 2017-2018 snow season officially started here on Saturday (18th) with the Kumanoyu area of Shiga Kogen operating the Number 2 pair lift and a 600m length of ski course available to slide down.

With another 16cm of fresh snowfall being measured over the weekend helped along with snow-making machines, the official snow depth is just 20cm so it's all rather limited - but still, great to see things starting to happen. And good to hear those snow moving machines - I don't even mind if they wake me up early morning!

More snow is due tonight so hopefully I might have more to report tomorrow.
