Independent snow and weather reporting from the Shiga Kogen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 42cm
Snowfall at base this season 612cm

Posted on Tuesday 18th January 2022 This is an archived report. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here.

Hello from Shiga Kogen.

Snow, snow, snow!

Kunamoyu and Yakebitaiyama are both reporting 30cm of new snowfall this morning, but I think they are being modest. Numbers aside, after a relatively mild day yesterday it's a cold morning today and the quality of the snow is excellent. There's a wind so the snow is really getting blown around (further making measurement troublesome as it's varying in different places). Some ski lifts might be delayed this morning due to the current weather conditions.

Tomorrow we'll enjoy a break from the snow storms and perhaps some post storm sunshine. And then some more snow on Thursday.

All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Shiga Kogen. The 'new snowfall' number represents the amount of snow measured since the previous report. All opinions are those of the individual reporters. Information regarding ski area operations is manually checked every morning and is believed to be correct at the time of the report.
