It's Friday, 17th May 2024, and the last day for the ski lift of the season at Yokoteyama, wrapping up the season in Shiga Kogen.
This morning, after some rain last night, we have a mix of blue sky and cloud, and it is a bit windy. Fairly chilly, too.
While Yokoteyama couldn't quite make it until Sunday 19th, it did well to make it into mid-May in this particular season of 'interesting' snowfall patterns. You can review the archive reports, data, and analysis pages to relive the season at any time.
The Yuzawa Now report said something similar last week, but with only very little snow now left in some higher areas, the peak of the winter season now seems a very long time ago. Indeed, many sections of Shiga Kogen closed back at the end of March.
And in about six months, we'll be getting excited about the 2024-2025 snow season, and it will all start up again!
Hopefully, the upcoming summer heat in Japan won't be too brutal, and come October we'll be hearing forecasts for heavy snow.
That's all I've got for now. Thanks for reading the reports, and see you in November!
