Independent snow and weather reporting from the Shiga Kogen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 1cm
Snowfall at base this season 863cm

Posted on Monday 16th April 2018 This is an archived report. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here.

Good morning from Shiga Kogen.

It's actually quite cold this morning! And some fresh snow on the ground too! Much nicer than the rain yesterday, that's for sure.

Still, with other ski resorts in other areas announcing that they can't quite remain open as long as they originally planned (of course, unrelated to Shiga Kogen), there is always the chance that we might well have similar news here too. We shall see.

Temperatures are forecast to rise somewhat in the second half of the week and into the weekend with a run of sunny days also due.

The section of Route 292 between Shiga Kogen and Kusatsu is still closed - planned re-opening is at 10am on Friday 20th April.
