Independent snow and weather reporting from the Shiga Kogen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 2cm
Snowfall at base this season 590cm

Posted on Wednesday 12th February 2025 This is an archived report. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here.

The crazy weather of yesterday has passed. (Or it seemed like it).

After a bright early and cold early morning, it is milder, dull and cloudy... but getting quite windy again too.

The wind is affecting some lifts already, including the two gondolas at Yakebitaiyama. Other lifts may also be affected.

The gondola at Okushiga Kogen seems to have been having some problems, too, but that is technical (not due to wind).

Strong wind and snow is expected tomorrow, so we can expect the chance of disruption.

With quite mild temps overnight tonight, it looks like there will be rain before snow down in the valleys below Shiga Kogen.
