Independent snow and weather reporting from the Shiga Kogen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 10cm
Snowfall at base this season 595cm

Posted on Monday 10th March 2014 This is an archived report. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here.

After the blue skies we enjoyed yesterday, it's back to mid-winter today. Heavy snow is falling, there's a wind blowing it about and I can hardly see anything at all out of the window here in Maruike just now. White out conditions. Not the nicest of conditions to be out on the slopes and numerous lifts seem to be on hold due to the conditions at the moment.

Best idea today is to take an onsen I reckon.

But if you do go out you need to wrap up and be prepared to brave the elements! It feels more like mid January than mid March right now.

Tomorrow and Wednesday are likely to be clearer and mid week we are expecting milder conditions.
