Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano
New snowfall at base 10cm
Snowfall at base this season 415cm
Posted on Friday 7th February 2014 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here.
Yesterday was another really good day out on the mountain and some fine stashes of snow to be found.
It's another cold morning here with a temperature of -10 degrees on the top area of the mountain, around -5C at base. The resort is reporting 10-20cm of fresh snow on the (lower-upper) slopes and there was a corresponding nice layer of snow to brush off the car this morning.
While it is still snowing, it's forecast to ease off and just be cloudy for most of the day today (perhaps a chance of some sun later too?), but it will remain cold.
Snow is forecast for tomorrow and probably into Sunday as well. So if you are here for the weekend come prepared for snow and cold conditions.
A week can make a big difference. It should be another great day.
