Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 40cm
Snowfall at base this season 527cm

Posted on Friday 2nd January 2015 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here.

A bit of sunshine and quite a lot of blue sky this morning actually. There's still a fair amount of cloud around but it's really nice conditions this morning here in Nozawa. Can actually see where you're going!

And there's lots more snow to enjoy as well with the top areas of the resort reporting over 50cm of fresh snowfall once again over the last 24 hours. Check the numbers below. Yamabiko now officially on 3.5m snow depth.

It's a cold start again so that extra layer is still very much needed. It should start getting slightly less cold from tomorrow and then more so on Sunday and Monday when we will probably (maybe?) have lots of sunshine to enjoy. Local forecast says maybe a bit of snow later on today.

Back to fresh snowfall around Tuesday?

Yes... things are good.

Tomorrow (Saturday) is the last day for the lifts opening 30 minutes earlier than normal for the New Year holidays.
