Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 0cm
Snowfall at base this season 15cm

Posted on Wednesday 26th November 2025 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here.

This morning may be wet and not particularly nice down in the village, there is some good news to tell you.

The ski area has announced it's firm intention to open on Saturday (29th November).

They plan to have at least the Yamabiko D run open initially, with other top courses opening up if/when there's more snow to allow for that.

A word of warning: the auto translate on Facebook this morning in English starts with "Nozawa Onsen Ski Area is now open". No, it is not open. It intends to open on Saturday, as I noted above.

I noticed a similar incorrect auto-translate on another report. Please be very wary of these things. Work is clearly required to improve that kind of thing.

Ahh, the days of having to check Facebook are back. :(
