Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano
New snowfall at base 20cm
Snowfall at base this season 355cm
Posted on Thursday 25th December 2014 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here.
After some clearer skies yesterday, it's a snowy Chrismtas morning here in Nozawa, which always seems just so fitting.
The resort reports 20cm of new snowfall across the mountain (curiously a bit less at the top), and I can indeed confirm such amounts as once I finish this report I'm going to have to go and shovel that lot off the top of my Nozzlemobile.
Not too cold this morning just under freezing point and snow falling from the skies still so limited visibility especially on the higher slopes but the fresh powder to play should make up for that.
Snow might ease at times during the day.
Doesn't look too busy actually this morning, after all it isn't a national holiday here, but I would expect things to really start getting busy this coming weekend.
Outlook for the weekend is for the snow clouds to move on and the start of a run of perhaps clearer skies and it won't be as cold either. Maybe get some sunshine from Sunday into next week.
Merry Christmas!
