Ho-ho-ho! Nozawa Onsen gets to open for the 2019-2020 season.... at last!!
Just a few cm down at base but the resort is reporting up to 20cm of snowfall on the upper mountain and two of the top Yamabiko courses (C and D) will be opening from 11:00am. You'll need to get the Nagasaka gondola up there and back down once you are done for the day.
Special lift ticket prices for today are 2000 yen for adults and 1100 yen for children. The free shuttle bus from around the village to the slopes will be operating from tomorrow.
We are actually expecting sunshine tomorrow but there's some very decent snowfall forecast around Thursday night into Friday so let's hope for some Nozawa-like heavy snow there.
