Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano
New snowfall at base 1cm
Snowfall at base this season 711cm
Posted on Friday 23rd January 2015 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here.
It hasn't been the best 24 hours in the season. Rain yesterday put a damper on things somewhat, but it is kind of back to... wet... snow this morning.
For the moment it is coming down and there's a few cm on lower slopes. Temperature hovering around 0 degrees at base.
Better news up top with the resort reporting up to 20cm up there, so you know where to head this morning.
This snowfall is not expected to last that long unfortunately, with cloudy conditions forecast for the afternoon today, and tomorrow the sun is due to be out.
So definitely not best powder conditions just now, but we have to take a few dips in a season to enjoy it when it's the best. (Right? I'm trying to convince myself!)
For the next potentially heavy snowfall, look towards Tuesday into Wednesday.
