Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano
New snowfall at base 22cm
Snowfall at base this season 352cm
Posted on Wednesday 21st January 2026 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here.
Hello from a cold Nozawa.
We do have some fresh snow, but I feel we were expecting more.
The ski area reports up to 20cm since yesterday afternoon (sorry I was unable to check the numbers yesterday afternoon).
Right now, we can see some blue sky and even a bit of sun at times. But there is lots of snow still lined up on forecasts into early next week. So hopefully the breaks in the cloud are a temporary thing.
Some prolonged periods of full-on snow madness is what I'm hoping for. As is Naski, of course.
Still, we can't do anything about the weather so in the meantime it should be a fun morning.
