Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 30cm
Snowfall at base this season 290cm

Posted on Sunday 19th January 2014 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here.

Ah yes, it is a good morning.

Lots of snowfall to report this morning. Here's what the resort themselves are reporting:

Yamabiko - 50cm

Uenotaira - 30cm

Hikage - 35cm

Nagasaka - 35cm

Karasawa - 30cm

So a cool 50cm up on the top Yamabiko runs.

There's definitely 30cm down at base too with cars needing to be found within their new snow coverings.

This is the kind of morning we like! Well, I do. :)

-4C now and not forecast to get any higher for the day. Should be slightly less cold tomorrow but not snowing. Then after that as I think I mentioned yesterday there's some more heavy snowfall due around Tuesday. It should be a very good week.

It goes without saying that conditions should be great today. Visibility is poor especially on the top half of the mountain. Exciting, but remember - care needed.

Official snow depths:

Yamabiko - 280cm

Uenotaira - 240cm

Hikage - 170cm

Nagasaka - 150cm

Karasawa - 120cm
