Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 20cm
Snowfall at base this season 521cm

Posted on Tuesday 18th February 2014 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here.

More snow in Nozawa. Yes, the last run of days since late last week has really felt more like a 'normal' Nozawa with the consistent snowfall. We're even getting the 'too much snow' comments from some people - always a good sign!

Since yesterday the Yamabiko area has reported 25cm; Uenotaira 35cm; Hikage 5cm; Nagasaka 30cm; Hikage 25cm; Kawasawa 20cm. Whatever the numbers, there's more fresh out there this morning and it is continuing to snow this morning.

If the forecasts are to be believed, snow should dry up during today and tomorrow should be a cloudy day; perhaps even clear and sunny.

Roads around Nozawa are ok but there are still some roads that people use to get here not open - still! - and warnings of more snow for Tokyo before the weekend. Hopefully that will not affect peoples plans like it has done since last weekend.

For those able to be here.... great conditions to be found. Hope you can get to enjoy it.
