It's a clearer morning and there's even a bit of sun! Can't say I was expecting that as we were supposed to be in the middle of a snow storm. It didn't quite get that (in terms of snowfall anyway) with the ski area only reporting 2-10cm (base to top) during the day yesterday and not much overnight, by the looks. 15cm since yesterday on upper areas.
Hmmmm.
OK so we are still expecting heavy snow through tomorrow. I'll let you know how that goes!
I don't think Naski made it out yesterday, probably doing whatever bright green vegetables do on their day off. Naski is out and smiling as usual on the Hikage area early on, and it looks like a school group (?) is getting geared up at the base there.
Fresh snowfall recorded by the ski area (total since yesterday morning):
- Yamabiko (1615m): 15cm
- Uenotaira (1407m): 15cm
- Hikage (660m): 2cm
- Nagasaka (616m): 2cm
- Karasawa (563m): 1cm
Official snow depth numbers (reported by the ski area):
- Yamabiko (1615m): 245cm
- Uenotaira (1407m): 220cm
- Hikage (660m): 170cm
- Nagasaka (616m): 160cm
- Karasawa (563m): 120cm
All courses apart from the following plan to be open:
- Yunomine A
- Mizunashi A
Planned operating lifts:
- Subject to weather conditions all lifts should be open.
- The Utopia and Challenge pair lifts are normally rested on weekdays.
- The top Yamabiko A-D courses close at 3:20pm until 27th March (at 3:10pm after that).
- Skyline course closes at 4:10pm.
- The Nagasaka quad lift is open for night skiing 11th-12th Feb (subject to change).
