Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 20cm
Snowfall at base this season 664cm

Posted on Tuesday 11th March 2014 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here.

Good times continue here in Nozawa with more snowfall on the mountain - since yesterday mornings report the resort says...

Yamabiko - 35cm

Uenotaira - 25cm

Hikage - 22cm

Nagasaka - 22cm

Karasawa - 20cm

Oh yes. And things are getting quieter as well weekdays now. It is a good time to be here this season - definitely a note needs to be made. Early March 2014? Yes, definitely very good for Nozawa.

This morning the sun is out and we are enjoying blue skies above. It is cold early but temps should creep just a bit into positive numbers early afternoon.

It's going to get warmer tomorrow though and after that we might get some rain. Let's just hope that it doesn't warm up too much and we can avoid much wetness, that would spoil things. I will give you the latest on that situation in my report tomorrow (which by the way may be posted later in the day).

Official snow depths:

Yamabiko - 380cm

Uenotaira - 310cm

Hikage - 210cm

Nagasaka - 190cm

Karasawa - 145cm
