Independent snow and weather reporting from the Niseko region of Hokkaido

New snowfall at base 0cm
Snowfall at base this season 873cm

Good morning from Niseko.

It's a cloudy, foggy and damp kind of morning. We expect a day of cloud, maybe a bit of sun. And some sun is due tomorrow morning.

Today is the last day of the season for the Niseko Moiwa Ski Resort. Otsukaresama deshita too all involved.

Their rather definitive tag line of 'Nothing But Powder Snow' (in big bold letters on their website) is... interesting. I don't have a habit of making overly bold statements regarding snow conditions and the like, but I'm quite confident in telling you that there is no powder snow around at the moment. I don't suppose 'Full-on late spring conditions' has the same ring.

(I'm a bit allergic to marketing fluff at the best of times, so this is not going to surprise long-term readers!)

Anyway. Tomorrow, we'll be down to the four Niseko United ski areas on the mountain.
