Niseko Now: Thursday 29th October 2026
Updated: 29 minutes ago
After the snow and wind of yesterday, this morning we have being treated to some early morning blue skies and sunshine... though it already appears to be getting more cloudy and the rain mentioned yesterday is still expected later on and we should expect the snow to
Slightly under 2cm more snow fell at my measuring point since my report yesterday morning. That's 2cm to add this morning. There will be more than that in places.
It seems like a lot of people showed up for the first time this season yesterday. There's nothing like some cold and a bit of snow on the news to get the SnowJapan server engines rumbling. It's still October and I only promise to 'go daily' once the lifts start moving, but my reports will be much more regular over the next few weeks. Hopefully with news of cold and snow.
When reports become more regular, it means that the 'latest report' only remains prominent for shorter periods, until the next one shows up. That also means that you jolly well need to visit each morning for fear of missing out on my latest musings about Niseko and slices of golden, crispy bread. If you feel so inclined, of course.
Oh yes. Another change to the reports this year which I didn't mention yesterday is the clear Previous report and Next report links below the daily 'snapshot' of each report (see below). On the previous site there was no 'Next report'. Well, there was at one time, but it involved some automated behind-the-scenes calculations to check whether another report existed, which added to page loading times. So it was taken off. This time around, the links are entirely manual, which avoids that issue. Those links should hopefully make reading through the reports of a season an easier experience.
Obviously, there's no 'Next report' on the latest report!
