Independent snow and weather reporting from the Niseko region of Hokkaido

New snowfall at base 10cm
Snowfall at base this season 18cm

I have some fine news to report this morning.

How does 10cm of fresh snowfall at base sound? I wonder if this will stick around and be part of our 'base'.

It is snowing lightly at the moment, but it is fairly bright.

Various forecasts, for it is they that I consult (more on that in a future report), don't seem particularly positive about the chance of significant quantities of snow over the coming week. More like modest amounts here and there, with the next potential for decent as we enter the weekend.

Many of you may well already know this, but Niseko Tokyu Grand Hirafu has an adjusted lift configuration thing going on for this season. Our old friend the Ace Number 2 Center quad has been replaced by a new gondola, which has been named Ace Gondola. I bet it's posh and shiny. The already existing gondola is now known as King Gondola. There are now 9 lifts on the official course map.

Ski areas hope to be able to open on Saturday 30th November 2024

All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Kutchan/Niseko. The 'new snowfall' number represents the amount of snow measured since the previous report. All opinions are those of the individual reporters. Information regarding ski area operations is manually checked every morning and is believed to be correct at the time of the report.
