Independent snow and weather reporting from the Niseko region of Hokkaido

New snowfall at base 13cm
Snowfall at base this season 137cm

Posted on Tuesday 14th December 2021 This is an archived report. The latest Niseko Now report can be found here

Good morning from Niseko.

We got some more fresh snowfall during the day yesterday and as a result I have another 13cm to add to my reports. It is a somewhat calmer scenario this morning with less wind and it's a generally grey kind of start to the day. Forecasts are looking good for consistent snow from Friday. It should be building up and hopefully ski areas will be able to open up more. It's always great when I am able to just say 'all open'.

A few lift operation changes to report. This morning Hirafu have their King Number 3 quad lift moving and few more courses available - specifically Jumbo Rinkan, Detour for Beginners. Over at Annupuri they are ging to have their Jumbo Number 1 quad operating.

Night skiing is planned to begin from this coming Saturday. Haven't heard any specific news on that but if we get more snow before the weekend I think we should be ok with that. (I'm guessing).

-----

I will try to keep up with exactly what courses are open in my lists below.

Hirafu and Annupuri are quite forthcoming with such information, but the other two are curiously less so. Perhaps it's a secret. I must say, it feels a bit weird having to really rummage around just to try and find out what to me seems like fairly basic information. Anyway, I will report the information that I am able to find. (And in this case, I won't guess).
