New snowfall at base 9cm
Snowfall at base this season 164cm
Posted on Sunday 11th December 2022 This is an archived report. The latest Niseko Now report can be found here
I made a few updates to my original morning report yesterday. Some big flakes were falling yesterday at one point, and then just after posting that the snow stopped and it and got brighter, so somewhat changeable weather conditions. After doing these reports for so long, I should probably know better. I was just excited...
This morning I have another 9cm of fresh snowfall to report. It is generally overcast with light snow falling in places.
The Silver course is open at Annupuri this morning, as is their kid's sledging course.
We might get some sun tomorrow, but from Tuesday onwards, it's snow and then some more snow. Hopefully, the wind won't get too pesky.

Niseko Avalanche Report
Mountain base 6am: -3℃, 5cm snow overnight, light winds. Moiwa 500m: -4℃, light winds, 5cm snow overnight, no snowdrift development. Coastal data: Benkei cape NNW10m/s, Kamui cape NW8m/s, 1015hPa, 1.2m waves.
The winter type weather pressure system continues with some light snowfall. Above 800m the westerly wind and snow has periodically been intensifying, however cornice and snowdrift development has been slow. From data and observation the general avalanche risk is low. Expect intermittent snowfall as the light coastal cloud cover is tending to form snow clouds over the mountains. Conditions on the groomers is getting better, but it is still a bit soft underneath. Note that although 120cm of snow has accumulated on the Goshiki Mikaeri route, this is not enough snow yet. In the mountains be cautious and make smart decisions. Have a good Sunday and enjoy the snow.
