Independent snow and weather reporting from the Naeba region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 24cm
Snowfall at base this season 522cm

Posted on Thursday 24th January 2019 This is an archived report. The latest Naeba Now report can be found here.

Morning from Naeba.

Another near on 25cm of fresh snow this morning which is good to see after that sunny day yesterday. And something of a change too. It is colder and windier and the current conditions are affecting what is open on the mountain this morning.

The Dragondola is not open today as Tashiro is closed, and early on the Number 2 Gondola and top pair lifts are also on hold due to wind conditions.

If the forecasts are right, be wary of Saturday. Looking like heavy snowfall and some potentially stormy conditions.

Official snow depth:

- 200cm

Planned night-time operations:

- Daily until Sunday 24th March 2019

- 4:00pm until 8:30pm

- Courses open: Number 5

- Lifts operating: Number 5 high speed lift and Number 4 romance lift
