New snowfall at base 80cm!
Snowfall at base this season 438cm
Posted on Sunday 15th January 2017 This is an archived report. The latest Naeba Now report can be found here.
A very good morning from Naeba everybody.
There is so much snow! As of yesterday's report the snow has not really abated with some periods of the day experiencing more than 10cm of snow per hour! Conditions are deep and powdery with powder pockets available most of if not the whole day.
Today's snow is a little difficult to exactly pin point in terms of centimeters on the ground. In some places there is well over a meter of fresh snow accumulation whereas in other places the number is closer to around 60 centimeters due to the wind stripping certain areas. The most consistent measurement I am getting though is 80 cm which is why that is the official measurement for today. It's a really huge number to be sure - and it is also more than the resort themselves are saying themselves - but it's what we are measuring so... :)
The weather forecast is still predicting for this storm to carry on until Tuesday and then a brief respite with heavy snow again starting from Friday afternoon.
In certain areas the snow is deep enough to easily bury a fully grown adult.
Be safe out there kids!
