Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata
New snowfall at base 64cm
Snowfall at base this season 421cm
Posted on Friday 9th January 2026 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.
I finally have some time to give a complete (if a little late) report.
Lots of snow, pretty heavy snow but also unconsolidated. It’s one of those days where, if you’re going into fresh snow, even just on the side of the resorts, you should go with a friend (snowboarders especially!). End up head down in the snow, and sometimes people can’t get out alone....
Great day to get out on the slopes (although it was a lot of fun yesterday in that fresh!).
Sunny day today, looks like a heavy fall again on Sunday!
Pretty good snowpack figures from the resorts, too.
