Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 43cm
Snowfall at base this season 1007cm

Posted on Monday 9th February 2026 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.

Crazy snow and a lot of wind yesterday and into the early morning today. Lots of literal whiteouts on the slopes as tons of snow was falling while the winds blew snow out of the trees.

Very exciting and a lot of fun (a good day to practice skiing by feel, not visual—don’t overthink it, right?).

The sun is almost coming out right now, but the forecast is for increasing winds and a bit more snow, probably ending later today.
