Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 25cm
Snowfall at base this season 117cm

Posted on Saturday 9th December 2017 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.

The 2017-2018 season is now officially begun. Started. Going.

Can't think about grammar after bouncing for two hours in a front loader, clearing that 25cm or so of fresh snow that fell since yesterday. Now it's sunny, perfect for a first ski, even if it's only Akakura Onsen and there's not that much on the ground.

A more positive spin: there's a lot more on the ground than we would probably get this early in the season.

Some resorts are reporting snow depths, so we'll give their information when possible. OK, let's get snowy....
