Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 56cm
Snowfall at base this season 673cm

Posted on Thursday 4th January 2018 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.

The round soft hail of yesterday has turned to nicer, flakier snow — and a lot of it. Nearly 60cm so far, and it’s still really coming down.

It hasn’t settled at all, though, so it could still be pretty “exciting” off the groomed (and I mean that in all possible ways!).

Hard to believe it’s still only the fourth day of 2018 - both because of the conditions, and because it seems like we’re continuously shoveling and blowing snow (and we’re just not yet in the snowy groove...)
