Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 2cm
Snowfall at base this season 1478cm

Posted on Tuesday 4th April 2017 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.

It's post-main-season time, but we got snow overnight, so I have to get the few cms up on the total!

It sounded like a lot; I woke up by the sound of snow sliding off the roof and bouncing off the lower roofs. Normally this means a pretty good snowfall, but it turned out to be heavy, big ice crystals. Still snow, though. Akakan also added 10cm to their total, so the fall was heavier higher up.

It felt pretty cold, too, although the sun was warm - really warm. It's disappeared back into the clouds at the moment, although there are bits of blue sky here and there.
