Lots of snow; lots of wind.
That meant a lot of drifting of snow, so I was a little worried about an accurate reading for our daily total. Our checking spot, though, is in area out of the wind (it's the same aspect as a lot of the runs on the two Akakuras side), so I'm confident in today's 72cm of new. And still falling.
It's kinda quiet in Myoko, to be honest. The Akakura Kanko Hotel looks pretty full, but I didn't have to drag any cars off the street in front of where I am now sitting (the road just rises up enough so two-wheel-drive vehicles, even with chains, tend to run out of traction here). Maybe people just decided to sit out the morning and see what the conditions are like, because it really is coming down pretty hard, it is cold, and a car in a parking lot will be an igloo within a few hours.
But me; I love skiing on a day like today. In the snow, not on it. Especially on the last day of 2020, a year that needed more joy.
