I sort of got sidetracked in my report yesterday; I was looking at the increases in snowpack at the resorts, and forgot to go back and warn that lift closures were likely due to the wind. And then went to Akakura Onsen, and only the two very bottom lifts were running. Same at Kanko for part of the day, too. Lots of wind-swept slopes and mini tornadoes.
That means this is a really good day to not go on the steep and deep in the backcountry, as that wind could build up and make for dangerous conditions. Low angle and in the trees would be a better choice (or just wait a day or two for things to settle, and the sun is coming out right now....).
