Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 28cm
Snowfall at base this season 70cm

Posted on Saturday 28th December 2019 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.

Snow! Much needed, fun to be on yesterday, a few more lifts running and slopes open.

Good thing, too, because we did get some thoughtful comments from people saying that, for example, Seki Onsen could not possibly have had the 50cm it reported, and that the resort shouldn't even have opened at all!

And some resorts do add more than really seems likely, so keep it in mind in the early season. Once we get a good base, it doesn't really matter much until spring.
