Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 18cm
Snowfall at base this season 201cm

Posted on Saturday 17th December 2016 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.

Man, it's busy in Myoko when the snow falls!

OK, we also started the seasonal business yesterday, so that was exciting, but there was also plowing to be done today in multiple places (and the effects of an opening party to overcome).

And a report to get written, so let's go!

Not a lot more snowfall overnight to add to yesterday's 20cm. I figured the total was about 38cm (so an additional 18cm).

It's looking great out there, and I heard the skiing was outstanding; a great way to start the season for Akakan.

More openings ahead, too, so by next week we'll be in full operations.
