Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 0cm
Snowfall at base this season 1020cm

Posted on Saturday 11th March 2023 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.

Apart from rain yesterday early, it's remained warm, mostly clear and hazy in recent days.

We do have rain turning to snow coming up early in the week ahead, which at least will be interesting. Fresh snow is not always something we want to see for backcountry - lots of slow, shallow, loose snow avalanches will follow - but with Kurohime now reporting under a meter of snow, a little addition can't hurt!
