Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata
New snowfall at base 12cm
Snowfall at base this season 298cm
Posted on Wednesday 10th January 2024 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.
Another morning that started with real, Myoko-style snow; big flakes coming down nice and steadily. Not a huge fall, and the forecast is that it will taper off around lunchtime, but nice to see. Nice to have the snow continuing, too (OK, one beautiful sunny day in there, but the condition on the hill is so much better than earlier).
It was also fun to see real "snowflake" crystals during a snow check. Bigger arms on those little stars means more air, fluffy powder, white smoke (we really need a bit more to enjoy that, but it's the right idea).
I'm also pleased to see that, on this slightly late-reporting day, that most of the resorts have updated information for you. Even better if they had that a little earlier, as you make your plans for the day, but step by step....
