Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 14cm
Snowfall at base this season 654cm

Posted on Sunday 9th February 2025 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here.

Good morning from Hakuba.

So, yes, more snow to report this morning.

Some lifts still affected by weather stuff including the top lifts at Happo-one and Tsugaike. Goryu is still 'preparing' lifts, too.

Hopefully we have seen the peak of the windy conditions and it will be calmer.

When is this snow going to stop? Well, it looks like we can expect more cm of snow today and tomorrow with a higher chance of clearer skies around Tuesday and Wednesday. And then a chance of heavy snow again going into Thursday.

Hakuba Happo-one has this morning broken through 6m (official) snow depth and on the Hakuba Valley website, that ski area is showing 1073cm of total snowfall for the season (as of 7th February).

I'll introduce those total snowfall numbers again sometime soon... including the curiously and comically incorrect '259cm' total snowfall for the season at Tsugaike!
