Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 5cm
Snowfall at base this season 659cm

Posted on Monday 10th February 2025 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here.

No so much snow since yesterday morning, actually. As you can see below, 0-10cm is being reported across the ski areas. We are used to so much more! ;)

Is that the chance of some sunshine I see on forecasts for tomorrow afternoon? I think it is! Not before more snow tonight, though.

OK just for fun, and so you don't have to look yourself, here are the 'total accumulated snowfall' numbers at the 10 ski areas in 'the valley', as on the official Hakuba Valley website, as of today.

I have put them in order of snowfall:

Hakuba Happo-one: 1083cm

ABLE Hakuba Goryu: 915cm

Hakuba Cortina: 882cm

Hakuba 47: 821cm

Hakuba Norikura: 820cm

Hakuba Sanosaka: 731cm

Jigatake: 451cm

Hakuba Iwatake: 421cm

Kashimayari: 306cm

Tsugaike: 264cm

Note: it is not specified where each ski area takes their measurement.

Obviously, that Tsugaike number is incorrect as it should be up there near the top. Some of the others seem suspiciously low too, considering the snowfall we have got this season. I'll revisit that later in the season.

Currently about -3.5C in the village.
