Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 23cm
Snowfall at base this season 86cm

Posted on Sunday 8th December 2024 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here.

The good news from Hakuba continues this Sunday morning!

Ski areas are reporting 30cm and more again, with Happo-one boasting 55cm of fresh snow up at Kurobishi. Yikes.

You can now ride back down to base at both Hakuba 47 and Tsugaike.

It is still snowing at a moderate rate and more snow is forecast today, with some 'relief' in the form of clearer skies due tomorrow. But there's more snow on the forecasts for the second half of the coming week too.

Visibility is limited to poor. Take care out there.

We really couldn't ask for more than this. Well, we could, of course. But you know what I mean! ;)

Hard to believe it's still only 8th December.

I wouldn't be surprised if any of the other ski areas opened earlier than planned, though haven't heard anything. Will investigate.
