Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 3cm
Snowfall at base this season 444cm

Posted on Wednesday 7th February 2018 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here.

Good morning from Hakuba.

Yesterday was a day of cloud and snow. Not a huge amount falling but some tracks being filled in and nice conditions out.

This morning here's how much fresh snow the ski resorts are reporting:

Happo-one: 10cm (gondola top station)

Hakuba 47: 5cm during the day reported; up to 10cm overnight

Hakuba Goryu: up to 5cm

Hakuba Cortina: 1cm

And the sun is out.

There is lots of blue sky with cloud hanging around the mountains - see the photo below to get an idea of how things are looking at 8:30am.

It looks like there are some fairly strong winds up there too with top lifts at Happo affected by wind at the time of writing and other possible lift delays at other resorts.

The forecast shows the chance of some more snow later on; for now though, a very fine morning. Just hope the wind co-operates!
