Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 8cm
Snowfall at base this season 441cm

Posted on Tuesday 6th February 2018 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here.

I had a top day yesterday finding myself some very fine snow. I'm not telling you where; you'll have to check yourself.

It was continuing to snow and not much of a wind.

And this morning this is how much snow the resorts are reporting:

Hakuba Cortina: 18cm at base; 20+cm up top

Hakuba Happo-one: 15cm (top gondola station)

Hakuba Goryu: 5-10cm

Hakuba 47: 5-10cm

47 reporting 10cm of snow overnight on upper slopes and 'not as much as they thought' - I'm a bit surprised myself, but still, conditions should be very agreeable this morning.

So we're expecting continued snow today into tomorrow. Sun is currently forecast around Friday and then some good-looking potentially heavy snow over the weekend. Though without wanting to spoil the excitement there seems to be a chance of a warm up and rain on Saturday before it turns into snow. Noooooooooooooo! Let's deal with that when we get to it, but keep it in mind.

In the meantime, wrap up well and have fun today.
